No image content analysis / On-device metadata processing only

We don't look at your photos.
We reveal how you shoot.

Capture time, location, camera, and lens. ShutterDNA is a self-discovery app that uses EXIF metadata—not what appears in your photos—to reveal your photography habits, the places that hold your memories, and the rhythm of your life.

ShutterDNA home screen showing a photography DNA profile

Stays on your device

All metadata analysis happens on your device. Your images are never uploaded.

We don't look at your photos

People, faces, scenery, and objects: none of the content in your photos is analyzed.

Locations are abstracted

We don't show coordinates or street addresses—only generalized place labels.

Screens

Your photography DNA, brought to life.

From profiles and maps to insights and onboarding, every screen reflects a design that never analyzes photo content.

Features

Turn shooting data into self-discovery.

ShutterDNA isn't a photo organizer. It's a way to reflect on the act of taking photos itself. Even without granting photo access, you can explore the main screens using sample metadata.

Photography personality profile

Your “Current DNA,” based on the latest 100 items, puts your recent shooting habits into words.

Memory Gravity Map

See where you shoot most through generalized place labels—never coordinates or precise addresses.

Rhythm-of-life insights

Find the rhythm of your days through shooting times, monthly patterns, and camera and lens usage.

The same light as that day

Metadata from the same season and time of day surfaces shooting moments that can spark a memory.

Shareable profile cards

Share only a profile panel and privacy-safe text—without coordinates or precise addresses.

Designed for on-device processing

Photo images, thumbnails, and face data are not stored. No account or cloud sync is required.

Privacy by Design

Designed not to look at your photos.

At the heart of ShutterDNA is privacy-preserving metadata analysis, not image analysis.

Never analyzed

We don't identify people, faces, food, scenery, objects, or anything else shown in a photo.

Never stored

We don't store photo images, thumbnails, face data, or object-recognition results.

Never exposed

Share cards don't directly display coordinates, street numbers, building names, or other precise details.

How it works

From setup to your profile in four steps.

  1. Choose access

Using your OS's photo permissions, ShutterDNA only handles the photos you allow.

  2. Read metadata

Only available values such as capture time, location, camera, and lens are used.

  3. Reveal patterns

Time, place, camera patterns, and yearly highlights are aggregated on your device.

  4. Share safely

Share your photography DNA with a profile card that contains no precise address.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Are my photos ever uploaded?

No. ShutterDNA only handles metadata such as capture time, location, and camera information, and all analysis happens on your device. Photo images and thumbnails are never sent outside the device.

How is location data handled?

Precise details such as coordinates and street numbers are not displayed directly. They are converted into generalized labels such as “Near the sea” or “Around your usual neighborhood.” Share cards contain no precise location data.

Can I use the app without granting photo access?

Yes. You can explore core screens such as your profile, map, and insights using sample metadata. If you like the experience, you can choose what to allow later.

When will the Android version be released?

It is currently in development and coming soon. For now, ShutterDNA is available for iOS on the App Store.
